Barolo Rosso, a loop trail of about 53 km to discover all the colours of wine. The starting point is Alba and, in a few pedal strokes, you will get to the hills. You climb up to the Langa from Roddi and then continue from village to village along roads that offer breathtaking views, castles popping up through the rows of vines, small churches amidst the vineyards, the UNESCO belvedere.
The loop ends in Diano d'Alba and then goes back to the city. The trail joins for a short stretch with the Barolo Viola loop.
Barolo is a wine that takes its time. It is born Nebbiolo and before it reaches the tables of the world, first needs to age. It does so in silence, enclosed in protective oak barrels. You too can take your time in tackling this trail that crosses the finest part of the region dedicated to the production of this prized wine and let yourself be embraced by its magnificent landscape.
The next destination is Verduno, a small village where time passes slowly and which offers a spectacular view of the Langhe from its Belvedere. The road climbs, by no small degree, to reach La Morra where, from the height of its 513 metres, you can immerse your gaze in a patchwork of vineyards sloping down towards the valley.
If you decide to limit, so to speak, the tour to 53 km, then continue on to Grinzane Cavour for a journey through history: the town, with its medieval castle, pays homage to the statesman of the Risorgimento Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour, who was mayor of the town for seventeen years and to whom we are grateful for the insight to systematically start producing Barolo.
