Alba Cathedral

Places of worship
Discover the evocative Cathedral of San Lorenzo, also known as Duomo di Alba, the spiritual heart of the city.
Over the centuries, from the Roman era to the Lombard age, the cathedral has undergone various transformations. In the 12th century, the bell tower was added, encasing the previous one. However, its current appearance dates back to 1870, thanks to architect Arborio Mella who harmonized Baroque details and Neo-Gothic features.

Above the portico, the facade hosts bas-reliefs with the emblems of the four evangelists - angel, lion, ox, and eagle - whose initials curiously form the word "ALBA."
